Objective: Gendered dimension of innovation, technology change and education in the digital era

The injection of COVID19 pandemic gave room to high economic downtrodden, socioeconomic impact which greatly hindered the many resources affecting the well-being of women and girls, investing in human capacities of women and girls, improving access to the internet, and closing the digital divide; strengthening and consolidating social protection and health systems; and increasing cooperation and shared learning across the world and among women faced many gender challenges during the pandemic. The CSW67 Session Agreed Conclusion posited that efforts should be geared toward ensuring that women and girls are positioned effectively across the world to innovative tendencies while utilizing technology change and education.

The objective of “Gendered Dimension of innovation, technology change and education in the digital era” is to close the gender gap through discussion initiatives to promote innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality in consideration of:

Develop digital tools and services to address the needs of all women and girls, across sectors and geographies, especially for their education, health, economic empowerment, and engagement in public life, and ensure women and girls have access to digital literacy and skills throughout their life course.
Mainstream gender in digital policies to remove barriers to equal access for all women and girls, including those living in poverty, in rural, maritime, or remote areas, with disabilities, Indigenous women and girls, migrant women and girls, and older women.
Foster a policy of zero tolerance for gender-based violence that occurs through or is amplified by the use of technology and ensure that public and private sector entities prioritize its prevention and elimination.
Mainstream a gender perspective in the design of emerging technologies and adopt regulations to ensure they are subject to adequate safeguards to combat new risks, gender stereotypes and negative social norms, data privacy breaches and improve transparency and accountability.
Promote policies and programs to achieve gender parity in emerging scientific and technological fields and create supportive workplaces and education settings, including through gender-responsive education, distance learning solutions and interdisciplinary approaches combining the teaching of social sciences and scientific fields.
Develop gender-responsive innovation that challenges gender stereotypes and negative social norms, including through the development of digital content, awareness campaigns and teaching competencies for positive engagement on digital technologies that engage, educate, encourage, and empowers youth, including young men and boys, to become agents of change for gender equality.

RESOURCE PERSONS

H.E. Ambassador Dr Diana Kenoly serves as a United Nations Ambassador as part of WOLMI accredited with NGO Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and UN Peace Ambassador with WOLMI within the International Consulting Cabinet (ICC). In September 2020, she was welcomed by the Center for SDG Global Education USA as Global Vice President for Leadership and Youth Education and serves as Director for Leadership and Strategy at YOUTHGETHER GLOBAL INITIATIVE engaging youth for global action. Her area of focus is Global Leadership Strategy working with current and emerging leaders to customize, engage and influence transformation in their leadership experience across the 9 Streams of Influence, these are the pillars of influence found in every society and global leadership structure including: Government, Education, Health, Business, Faith, Arts & Culture, Sports, Family and Media. She is also an Executive Director with the John Maxwell Team and serves on its Presidents’ Advisory Council where she is Committee Chair for Standards & Protocol.

Ruby Guillen is an interagency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect expert, Associates Dr. Michael Durfee, Fatal Child Abuse and Family Violence: Infant, Child, Youth: Technology and Data Researcher/Analyst, Co-Chair: Representing the State of California National Association of Social Workers-Ca, Technology Council, Consultant and advisor for technology and data science startups Lead advisor for Utternik, Mental Health, Human Health Tech, and various other humanistic-centered technologies. The largest global association of women in technology and science. Women transform technology. Presents technological and Data Science Hackathons & Innovation Events Trainings, technology bootcamps, computer engineering competition events, innovations, and data science for government agencies, nonprofits, universities, and research groups.
